To evolve the Boltgun in the October Warhammer Survivors demo, carry Boltgun and Dice Cube, maximize the base weapon and collect a boss chest according to corroborated player reports. The result is Heavy Bolter, which the developer independently names as Boltgun's evolved form. Dice Cube is the passive, not the separate D6 Dice weapon. The procedure comes from October recipes and dated player replies, while the result is confirmed by the official survivor reveal.

The Boltgun recipe at a glance

The recipe has three names to identify: the base weapon, the companion and the evolved result. Keeping them separate prevents confusion with another ranged attack or a similarly named dice item. The reported companion belongs to the October demo context. It should not be presented as a first-hand test of the unreleased full game.

PartName or condition in the October reports
Base weaponBoltgun
Companion passiveDice Cube
Reported preparationMaximize the base weapon while holding the companion
Reported trigger routeCollect a boss chest
Evolved resultHeavy Bolter

The developer's first survivor reveal independently supports the Boltgun-to-Heavy-Bolter relationship. That is stronger evidence for the result name than guessing from a change in projectile size. The companion and chest procedure are supported by dated community reports rather than a complete official recipe sheet. Both evidence types are useful when their different scopes remain visible.

Identify the actual base weapon

Begin by checking that the weapon is Boltgun. The official reveal says Brother Luca starts with it, which establishes one announced starting kit. It does not establish that every champion starts with the weapon or that Brother Luca is immediately selectable in every demo context. A champion's appearance is not a substitute for reading the attack name.

The weapons guide separates the named attacks and their evolved forms. This is especially useful when an older guide mixes Bolt Pistol and Boltgun wording. The supported recipe on this page is for Boltgun. Do not merge different base weapons simply because their names or projectiles resemble one another.

Make sure the companion is Dice Cube

The companion in the October reports is Dice Cube. It is not D6 Dice, which is a separate weapon in the official equipment material. Selecting the attack with the dice name therefore does not establish that the required passive is held. The Dice Cube page handles that identity question separately from the Boltgun procedure.

An item being unlocked in your equipment pool is also different from carrying it during the current run. Read the selected universe's Objectives screen when checking availability, then inspect what you actually obtained. The supplied research does not establish an exact official unlock threshold for every universe. This walkthrough therefore does not insert an unsupported level number before the recipe.

Develop the weapon before the chest step

October player replies repeatedly describe maximizing the base weapon before collecting the relevant boss chest. The level being discussed is the weapon's development, not simply the champion's experience level. That distinction matters when you have gained many character levels but spread upgrades among several different attacks. Use the state of the actual Boltgun as the check.

The reports do not justify a universal instruction that every passive must also be maximized. They also do not establish a guaranteed next-chest outcome or a fixed minute when evolution always becomes possible. Avoid adding one of those claims from memory of another survivors game. The documented sequence is specific enough to troubleshoot without inventing extra conditions.

Follow the reported boss-chest route

Once the base weapon and companion are in place, the recurring demo advice is to collect a boss chest. That is a reported route, rather than proof that every chest in every version behaves identically. The dated discussion is important because it contains advice from different demo periods. Its October replies should not be replaced by an older opening list without checking the build context.

If the result does not appear, review the conditions individually. Confirm Boltgun rather than another gun, Dice Cube rather than D6 Dice, and the actual base-weapon state before assuming the timing is wrong. Also distinguish the reported boss chest from any chest remembered from an earlier moment. These are checks of the described recipe, not a new hidden guarantee about the next reward.

Recognize the Heavy Bolter result

The expected evolved form is the ordinary Heavy Bolter. This identity is directly stated in the official reveal and is corroborated by the October material. It is the result of the Boltgun line on this page. The Heavy Bolter guide explains that weapon's identity rather than repeating the entire walkthrough.

Heavy Bolter Fidelis is a different named weapon associated with Morvenn Vahl. It follows its own line into Purgator Mirabilis. The shared words Heavy Bolter do not establish that the same Dice Cube recipe evolves Fidelis. Keeping the lines separate avoids answering a Vahl equipment question with the wrong base weapon.

Why a follower can appear during equipment selection

The official squad explanation assigns Keywords to weapons and champions. If a selected attack cannot be wielded by the current champion, an eligible follower can join to carry it. This is a documented equipment-compatibility system. A follower appearing is not proof that the Boltgun itself has already evolved.

Followers cannot take damage or collect items according to the same explanation. Their presence also does not establish another human player, a permanent character unlock or an automatic companion pickup. Read the actual loadout when checking the recipe. The visible number of allied figures is a different observation from the weapon and passive combination.

Keep the demo and launch boundaries separate

The Steam description confirms the general system of weapons combining with power-ups. The exact Dice Cube pairing and chest route here are October-demo reports. They do not establish complete launch-build behavior or numerical Heavy Bolter statistics. The page is therefore labelled with the demo context throughout.

Auroch's October announcement also says demo progress does not carry into the full game. Practicing the Boltgun line can help you recognize equipment without banking a release unlock. The earlier demo and updated October demo have a separate no-transfer boundary as well. Treat a successful trial evolution as learning within that version rather than proof of future saved progress.

Choose the next focused question

Use Dice Cube when the passive name or availability is the problem. Use Heavy Bolter when you are distinguishing the result from Fidelis, or Lasgun evolution when the base weapon is actually Kozlowski's attack. The full demo table shows the other corroborated combinations. This walkthrough uses research checked November 8, 2026, and supplies no invented chest timer, damage value or guaranteed reward.
