The full game advertises over 40 playable Warhammer Survivors characters. The October demo names six: Malum Caedo, Trooper Kozlowski, the Legend of Catachan, Neave Blacktalon, Ulgromthier and Lyssa Revenya. Those six are the demo roster identified by the developer's Next Fest post, while the larger advertised figure comes from the Steam listing. A revealed champion is not automatically an immediately selectable demo character.
The October demo roster
The named demo champions are split between Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Caedo, Kozlowski and Catachan belong to the 40K side of the demo. Neave, Ulgromthier and Lyssa belong to Age of Sigmar. The developer highlights Catachan and Lyssa as the additions in the updated October version.
Some of the named characters are unlockable rather than immediate starting selections. That makes roster membership different from the choices shown on a fresh save. Use the selected universe and the current Objectives screen when checking how your own menu develops. This guide does not convert the six-character content list into a promise that every option is available before your first run.
| Universe | October-demo champion | Starting equipment identified in the research |
|---|---|---|
| Warhammer 40,000 | Malum Caedo | Chainsword |
| Warhammer 40,000 | Trooper Kozlowski | Lasgun |
| Warhammer 40,000 | The Legend of Catachan | Frag Grenades |
| Age of Sigmar | Neave Blacktalon | Tempest Axes in demo references |
| Age of Sigmar | Ulgromthier | Brazier Staff |
| Age of Sigmar | Lyssa Revenya | Rope and Grapnel |
Malum Caedo and the Chainsword start
The first official survivor reveal identifies Caedo's Chainsword. This gives a concrete starting point when comparing him with a Lasgun or grenade character. The weapon is part of his starting kit, rather than evidence that every champion begins with the same equipment. It also gives his run a different initial attack pattern to learn.
The October recipe research connects Chainsword with Tape Measure and an Eviscerator Chainsword evolution. That is a dated demo combination, not a complete release-build character evaluation. A known starting weapon can help you plan what to study without establishing that Caedo is the strongest champion. The tier-list discussion keeps role comparisons separate from unmeasured ranks.
Kozlowski and the Lasgun squad
Kozlowski's Lasgun gains additional Cadian troopers as it levels according to the official reveal. The later squad-system explanation supplies further context for allied characters and weapon Keywords. These troopers are a documented part of the weapon's behavior. They are not another human joining a multiplayer session.
Increasing the squad through Lasgun levels is also different from obtaining the Meltagun evolution. The reported October evolution uses Lasgun and Gauntlet, while the follower growth is part of the base weapon's development. The Lasgun evolution guide explains both without merging them into a single requirement. Reading the distinction correctly is more useful than treating every additional ally as proof that the weapon has evolved.
The newer demo additions
The October materials add the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya to the named demo champions. Catachan's researched starting weapon is Frag Grenades. Lyssa uses Rope and Grapnel, whose Ghost of Rhea evolution is discussed in the designer's PlayStation Blog post. These are specific equipment identities rather than guessed names for what appears on screen.
Their addition does not establish a complete release roster. It shows that the updated demo differs from older May footage. A guide written before those additions can describe its own build accurately while omitting newer choices. Check the demo guide when the question is what the October trial contains, rather than what the full game promises.
Ulgromthier and the Age of Sigmar equipment context
The October developer material identifies Ulgromthier with Brazier Staff and higher health. That is a documented distinction, but the research does not provide a verified numerical health value to publish here. The staff belongs to the Age of Sigmar equipment context. Its name helps distinguish that evolution line from 40K artillery using the same reported passive.
The October demo reports pair Brazier Staff with Liquid Green Stuff to make Master of Runes. That pairing is explained on the Brazier Staff page. Sharing a passive with another weapon does not make the two base weapons interchangeable. Character choice, universe selection and the equipment actually held during a run should remain separate checks.
Other officially revealed champions
The wider official material names Brother Luca, Sharynn Azurwrath and Gotrek Gurnisson. Further reveals include Marneus Calgar, Knight-Commander Pask, Sebastian Yarrick and Morvenn Vahl. The squad explanation also discusses Bastian Carthalos, Lorai and the Black Templars Castellan. These are announced names from official material, not a claim that this page has tested the complete launch roster.
The April reveal and PlayStation Blog article are useful references for that larger scope. A name appearing in an announcement does not by itself establish the exact unlock task, numerical starting stats or demo selection status. The full product advertises more champions than this named selection. Avoid treating an arbitrary count of revealed names as the final number of playable characters.
Playable champions and followers
The official system uses Keywords on weapons and champions to determine who can wield equipment. If your chosen champion cannot use a selected weapon, an eligible ally can join as a follower. Followers cannot take damage or collect items according to the developer explanation. That makes them part of the loadout system rather than additional player-controlled slots.
The same explanation gives a synergy between Castellan and Kozlowski's extra troopers. It is an example of how a champion and follower interaction can matter. It does not prove a universal strongest team or cross-universe party selection. Keep the main survivor, the follower carrying an attack and the human player count distinct when reading character footage.
How to choose a character to learn
Start with the equipment identity and the selected universe. Observe the attack pattern before deciding which upgrades support the run you want to practice. A character's starting weapon gives a meaningful difference even when no tested damage ranking is available. These are learning priorities, not a declaration that one champion guarantees easier wins.
Use the beginner guide for movement and upgrade decisions, then check objectives for the distinction between task wording and reward identity. This roster page is based on sources checked November 8, 2026. It does not invent missing numerical stats, unlock thresholds or a finished release roster. The official announcements remain the reference for which names have actually been revealed.
