The updated Warhammer Survivors demo is available through Steam and Xbox PC according to the official October announcement. The demo has six named champions across Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, with some requiring unlocks rather than appearing as immediate starting choices. Demo progress does not transfer to the full game. Use the official Steam listing for the verified download route and the October announcement for platform scope.
Where to download the demo
The Steam store page includes a demo download separate from the full-game listing. That is the verified starting point for the Steam version in this research. The official announcement also identifies an Xbox PC demo. Its wording concerns PC access, so it should not be reinterpreted as confirmation of a playable Xbox console demo.
The inspected sources do not establish PS5, Switch or mobile demo availability. Full versions are announced for those platforms, but that is a different statement from a trial being offered now. Follow the actual official product route instead of an unofficial download or a guessed store address. This keeps the platform you are downloading for clear before you begin a run.
The six named October-demo champions
The Steam Next Fest developer post names six champions across the two universes. Warhammer 40,000 has Malum Caedo, Trooper Kozlowski and the Legend of Catachan. Age of Sigmar has Neave Blacktalon, Ulgromthier and Lyssa Revenya. The named roster describes demo content, not a guarantee that all six are selectable from the beginning.
| Universe | Named October-demo champions |
|---|---|
| Warhammer 40,000 | Malum Caedo; Trooper Kozlowski; the Legend of Catachan |
| Warhammer Age of Sigmar | Neave Blacktalon; Ulgromthier; Lyssa Revenya |
Catachan and Lyssa are the additions highlighted for the updated October demo. Their inclusion should not be confused with a complete announcement of every full-game champion. The full release advertises over 40 playable characters, which is a larger scope. The characters guide separates demo availability from other announced names and starting equipment.
What changed from the earlier demo?
The developer describes rebalancing and quality-of-life changes in the updated demo. The October materials also mention skippable sequences and some cross-universe meta-progression. These changes are a reason to treat May footage as historical rather than as an exact description of the current trial. The updated-demo announcement is the relevant version reference.
This is especially important for equipment advice. Older player lists can show a companion pairing that later October reports correct. A video can accurately show the version it recorded while still being a poor guide to a revised recipe. The evolutions page labels the reported October combinations and keeps that evidence separate from full-release rules.
What happens to your save?
The developer says that progress from the earlier demo does not transfer into the October demo. The same announcement says the new demo's progress does not transfer into the full game. Those are two separate boundaries, rather than a single vague warning about saves. The October release post states both restrictions.
This means you should use the demo as a way to learn, rather than to bank launch unlocks. The research establishes no official exception for demo currency, characters or objectives. A separate developer-labelled Steam reply also confirms the no-transfer rule for the full game. Read the carry-over guide if that rule determines how much time you want to invest before release.
What the demo helps you learn
The central loop combines movement, enemy swarms, experience, upgrades and changing equipment. Weapons can combine with power-ups to evolve, and the two universes bring their own champions and enemies. You can use a run to learn how your starting attack behaves and how an upgrade changes the encounter. Those are useful learning goals even when the save will not move forward.
The official game description also includes progression between attempts. Gold improves future runs, while paint pots connect with character forms and secrets. That creates a distinction between what happens during a run and what you unlock afterward. The beginner guide explains those layers without promising an optimal first run or an unverified farming route.
The demo and the full game are different scopes
The Steam listing advertises over 40 playable champions and 75+ weapons for the full game. Those numbers should not be used as the demo's selectable roster or item count. A demo offers a sample of the systems rather than proof that the full launch inventory is already accessible. The six named demo champions are the more precise roster reference for this version.
The first-demo announcement identifies Imperial Bastion against Tyranids and The Great Parch against Skaven. That is historical context from the May demo post, not a verified exhaustive limit for every later demo build. The October material describes changes without establishing every current restriction or a removal date. Keep the build and source date attached when comparing what two players can access.
Avoid confusing followers with multiplayer
Warhammer Survivors includes an equipment-driven follower system. Additional allies on screen are part of that design, rather than evidence that several people are controlling a session. Auroch's launch material focuses on a single-player experience. The presence of a squad therefore does not establish a co-op mode for the demo or full release.
The distinction also matters when comparing the two universes. A named ally belongs to a particular equipment and champion context. Seeing one in footage does not prove cross-universe character selection or shared multiplayer progression. Use the champion and weapon guides to understand the actual named systems before turning a screenshot into a feature claim.
Planning a useful practice session
Begin by choosing a universe and observing the starting weapon rather than trying to reproduce an older video's entire loadout. Read the current Objectives screen when deciding which unlock to pursue. Compare weapon upgrades with the companion you are trying to carry, especially if you are practicing an evolution. These are learning priorities based on the documented systems, not a guaranteed route to a particular result.
After the run, separate the equipment you saw from the progress you expect to keep within that demo. The official transfer restriction still applies when moving to the next product boundary. Recording what you learned about an attack or item is different from transferring a save. This approach gives demo play a useful purpose without relying on an exception that the developer has not announced.
The next page for your question
Choose demo progress carry over for the save policy, characters for the named roster, or evolutions for the dated recipe table. Each page handles a different question rather than treating the demo as the entire release. Platform and purchase questions belong with the release schedule and price guide. Use the live Steam listing for current download availability. The official announcement establishes the October demo platforms but does not provide a permanent availability guarantee. Keep the distinction between an available trial and the unreleased full product visible. No console or mobile demo download, complete launch inventory or save-transfer workaround is supplied here.
